PNG
PNG is lossless and supports alpha transparency. Great for logos, icons, screenshots, and UI. File sizes grow quickly for complex photos.
JPG
JPG uses lossy compression tuned for continuous-tone photos. You trade a little quality for much smaller files. No transparency.
Which should you use?
- Photos / lifestyle shots: JPG or WebP
- Logos / icons with alpha: PNG or WebP
- Screenshots with text: PNG (or lossless WebP)
Convert either way
Use PNG to JPG when you do not need transparency, or JPG to PNG when you need a lossless export. Both tools run locally in PixNest.
